Susan Dobson “Italy 1-74”
Susan Dobson’s “Italy 1-74” installed in the library of the Tenerife Espacio de las Artes, Canary Islands
Running over 600 feet long, Susan Dobson’s photographic installation of 74 slide drawers is currently hanging in the library of the Tenerife Espacio de las Artes, as part of Fotonoviembre 2017.
This installation is a continuation of her “Slide Library” series of photographs where Dobson has photographed each drawer from a de-commissioned slide collection from a birds eye view. For Fotonoviembre, Dobson chose Italy, the European country in the slide collection that had the most number of slide drawers. In direct juxtaposition, on the opposite wall in the library, Dobson hung “Africa Ceylon”, a drawer containing only 28 slides.
