Robert Cadotte was born in Montreal in 1945. He studied at the School of Art & Design in Montreal and has a background in furniture restoration and sculpture. Robert Cadotte has exhibited across Canada and has had solo shows at Museum London and at the Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant. His work is included in private and public collections, including the Canada Council Art Bank, Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery, London Life Company, Museum London and the Royal Bank of Canada.
Robert Cadotte is well known for an experimental style that explores both representation and abstraction. These new paintings reference an abstracted nature, and combine fine gesture with broad sections of pure colour. Cadotte’s well known previous grid patterns and diptych paintings have evolved into colourful abstract paintings with an expressionistic sentiment.
